The department concerns with the appraisal, acquisition, development, marketing and disposal of property, or sometimes the ongoing management of property. A developing country like Nigeria needs estate surveyors and valuers to assist in providing managing and carrying out improvements on buildings and infrastructure on one hand while at the same time expand urban property markets.

The department aims to produce Quantity Surveying graduates who are creative, innovative and versatile with a sound knowledge in construction cost management, tender and construction contracts administration, quantification and documentation of construction works, as well as meeting the needs of the nation and the ability to compete globally with skills to enable them think analytically within a multi-disciplinary field and provide cost and procurement expertise for all forms of infrastructural development projects.
